'Had one issued many years ago. Abused it, or an identical replacement, and had it with me all these years. 'Never really thought about how much a part of me it was until the last one grew legs.
If I had to have just one knife . . . there's no question but that it'd be the USMC's original, non-commemorative, Ka-Bar.
I got black blade/wooden handle one and the only issue I had is that I thought it could be a little sharper out of the box but a few minutes and a sharpening stone took care of that. GREAT knife! If you want a good combat knife, this is it.
vary sharp kife i got the all balck one whith ruber grips the best kinfe ever it fits big hands and it is vary strong i never go in the woods with out it
Great, heavy, strong blade that can have some weight behind it. The length of the whole knife allows you to put leverage on it when cutting, and the grip is long enough for all of my XL glove size hands to fit comfortably on. The blade is nice and long, and I can easily use it to split wet wood with another branch, and get to the dry center to light a fire. Cuts through rope like butter. The sheath is leather, which when wet does streak, but the knifes for using, not display, though it does hold a nice place in my knife collection.
Best knife ever
Nothing I can say, that hasn't been said. I've had mine since 1987...still going strong.
Everything about this knife says perfect. It's tough, the handle is made of beautiful wood, and the blade is as sharp a they come. As others have said, it's no wonder this is the knife that's lasted centuries.
Simply the best
This knife can both take and dish out some damage. I got my new one a year ago but till then I had a old WW2 Ka-Bar. Got it at The factory in Olean NY and has heald up to every thing I've put it throw. I still got that old one and use it reguraly the new one is more of a display piece now. These knifes are tuff and inexpensive and best of all made in the USA. Best knife for the money on the market.
Awesome knife, hard wearing, sharp, and looks really really really scary which is what its all about when your fighting crazy people. The sheath has broken a bit but not majorly at all and ive had it ages. Dont know why there restricted in the UK but hey amazing definatly worth it.
Tough as nails and sharp enough to do some serious cutting. In short, it's a Ka-Bar. There's a reason the design has remained unchanged for more than 60 years.
more than a decade
I've had my ka bar for more then ten years now.
I ve used it on camping trips. Used it around the house. Opened canned goods with it I cut barbwire with it. This thing will take it all and keep on sreving you. I had it resharpened 2 times in ten years and it still looks good.
wonderful knife .....i was out camping and me and my buddy where standing over a cliff and i had previously not fully closed my sheath and it fell down and when i got to it it hardly had a scratch on it........good knife stays sharp for me!!!!
I've had this knife for about two days now and it is by far the nicest knife I have ever accidentally cut myself with. It's an absolutely beautiful piece of work.
I can't say that I've had it long enough to tell you that it's a long-lasting knife, but it IS a Ka-Bar (even though it doesn't say so on the website) and those are supposed to last forever (give or take a week).
I'd buy one if I were you. I would also buy some thick gloves, because this sonofawhore is sharp.
semper fi— do or die.
Great for utility and combat.I've had mine for for a long time.Way better than my issue USMC knife.(Camillus or Ontario) models)
Original got it becuase my rifle buddy had one too,and said it's an awesome knife. And it is.Its alot more tough than the issue and the coat lasts much longer.Especialy when you apply blueing right out of the box.
