Cheap Knock-Off of Timeless Classic
It's a boonie but not the real boonie. Took two very long backorders to get a correct size. After washing and drying one time to season it, it faded a lot and completely lost its shape. It's understandable it will lose its shape and color over time, but this was ridiculous after that seasoning.
The stiffening material in the brim is so thin and flimsy it feels like it nothing is in there. It's obvious the manufacturer starched this product in the production process because it feels almost like a rag after washing one time.
TruSpec should change their name to NonSpec since that accurately describes their products. Staff Sergeant R. Lee Ermey should be ashamed of himself for shilling to this company.
Even though this hat is sewn to military specs., they are made in Honduras. Not an authentic boonie from days of old, but they do seem that they will endure. Sizing is correct. Don't know about water repellency yet - not monsoon season. One nice feature is a pocket on the inside of the crown for extra carry capacity. Tag sewn on the inside carrying the Mil-Spec brand name (dead give away that it's not the real deal). Note about the olive boonie: you may be a little disappointed with the color. It is not the authentic olive drab, but more like pine green. Other than that, a three week back order on a common stock item left a bitter taste in my mouth. Overall it's a decent hat. I would be interested to compare to a Propper brand boonie. All I have to compare it to are authentic boonies.

Ordered the Desert Tan, and it's a quality Ripstop Boonie hat!
this is the best boonie hat i have ever gotten.it provides great protection.it says water proof on the tag,but that is only to a very small extent.it still keeps the rain off you.it also provides great protection from snow and sun.had mine about a year and a half, and no signs of wear.
