Great starting point...
I've had the CONDOR Plate carrier for over a year, and upgraded to the Quick-Release so I could use it the next time I deploy.
In setting it up, I love the large amount of mounting area, ease of quick-release and re-assembly, and the ease of routing cables, tubes, etc. over the shoulder. It's comfortable even with a heavy load.
My main complaint is that CONDOR seems to have dropped many features I liked in their Plate Carrier. No side plate carriers, map pockets and the velcro seems less secure on this model. Additionally, the front tends to pull down because the cummerbund is free floating and rides up when weight is put on the front. Finally, the plate pockets WILL fit an XL plate, but expect it to take a lot of effort.
All said, though, it took me less than 20 minutes of modifications to correct the issues that kept me from using it the way I needed to. It is a great place to start from, and I absolutely love the way I have it set up now.
QUICK RELEASE VEST REVIEW...
I AM 6 FOOT 6, 240. FOR A VEST THAT WAS NOT MADE TO MY SPECS, THIS VEST IS IMPRESSIVE. IT FITS LIKE A GLOVE AFTER SOME MINOR ADJUSTMENTS. VERY COMFORTABLE, BUT MOLLE SLOTS ARE NOT ALL THERE... SOME OF THE END MOLLE LOOPS ARE NOT FULL SIZE AND THEREFORE CAN NOT BE UTILIZED UNLESS YOU USE PARACORD OR ALICE CLIPS TO ATTACH POUCHES. YOU MAY NEED TO ADD SOME VELCRO AND ELASTIC BUT FOR THE PRICE IT CANT BE BEAT. PLUS ONE OF THE ONLY VESTS THAT WILL CARRY SOFT ARMOR PANELS AND PLATES FOR UNDER 150.00.
