I only have one word for this backpack, AWSOME. I own the smaller S.O.C. Bugout Bag and it also large and great, but I needed a backpack that is larger to carry all my gear and not 2 or 3 separate bags to get in and out of Blackhawk helecopters. In fact, I still have room!
I was suprised how well the backpack sits on my back. It does not droop (if packed properly). That is due to the help of a sturdy internal frame and strong straps to compact the load and hold the load close to the body.
Also, I bought this bag over a rucksack because it opens up with the flap in front and not on top so I can keep my things organized and get things in and out easier.
It has a small pocket in one of the compartments perfect for an iPod and a way to route the headphones. Have not tried it yet, so I don't know how convienent it is.
It also has a place to put a hydration bladder and a way to route the tube. Again I have not tried that yet. My concerns is how it will sit on my back with it in the compartment and if the internal frame will cause a puncture. I'm sure it will be fine, but I'll find out soon for sure.
I have compared this backpack with others with very similar features and they run 350 to 500. This is a great deal! You are not sacrificing anything.
This thing is awesome! It is massive, I can fit all of my books, cloths, and other gear into this thing with ease, and I have a lot of stuff. It is super tall, I'm 6' tall and even when the shoulder straps are nice and tight, the bottom of the bag is about down to my mid to lower butt. You can fit anything you need in this. The only thing I wish is that it came with the compression straps for the bottom to hold sleeping bags and stuff.
Great For LONG Halls!
As a USAF flight nurse I have TONS of No-Go gear & pubs to carry during missions...esp down in the AOR ti include survival gear. This bag allows me to consolidate everything into one bag! When we get alerted, all I have to do is grab one bag! Its great!
