BEST STOCK I EVER BOUGHT. I EVEN HAVE THE ADJUSTABLE CHEEK REST FOR IT. BEST ADD ON. I HAVE HAD THIS STOCK FOR 3 YEARS 1 TOUR IN IRAQ AND SOON TO BE AFGAN. I WILL ALWAYS MAKE SURE I HAVE THIS STOCK FOR MILITARY AND CIVILIAN WEAPONS.
Troubles with the door latch
Cool unit, I like the look and concept. However, the latch on the door is sometimes tricky. I have to take extra time to make sure the latch has actually secured the door. Sometimes the concussion knocks it loose again. Maybe it is just my unit or maybe I am just below IQ when it comes to latching. If you use a tac light or have optics which utilizes CR-123 batteries then it is a pretty cool product.
Overall nice piece, needs some refinement
I purchased this stock as a replacement for the standard Army stock, and it works well. There is a slight difference in the fit to the pre-existing buffer tube on the M4, but not enough to prevent its use. I did break the CR123 battery cover off by simply opening it one time -- the hinges are plastic, and really need a metal hinge. I got a replacement cover sent to me for free from the manufacturer. Shoulder pad is a definite plus -- absorbs the little recoil that the weapon still has. The multiple mounting points are also a great thing with the detachable sling swivels. Overall, I'm very happy with it.
This has to be the most rugged, and useful tactical stocks on the market for the money. I found the spare battery compartment very useful, as I dont always use my front grip with battery storage. The only problem I had was with the buffer tube threading into the lower too far and interfering with the upper, not allowing it to close. A little bit of machining and flat black paint quickly fixed this problem.
Great Stock for the AR and the AK
I got this stock for the full length Ar-15 and they do offer the full version with the tube as an option, worked out perfectly.
I also got the same stock for my AK, fantastic unit. Very durable and comfortable to fire.
Doesn't come with buffer tube
This will only fit existing folding stock weapons. It does not come with a buffer tube. I find it ironic that they call it a 6 position stock when it's the buffer tube that determines the number of positions not the stock itself. And, normally the buffer tube comes with the stock in most of the configurations I've seen. They at least could have sold the buffer tube as an option but it doesn't look like US Cavalry sells them at all or the search mechanism isn't good.
I'm not down on US Cav as I've ordered a bunch of stuff and been very happy. I think the stock will work great when I can get a buffer tube to mount it on. I'm just disappointed I have to go looking for it somewhere else.
